90 minutes prior this time of year should be ample time. I would be surprised if there's more than a 5 minute wait to check bags, and another 5 minute wait to clear security. Now if it were a Monday morning or over a holiday, that would be a different story.
And unless there is a mechanical dealy, the 6:40AM departure should depart on time, or very close to it. The plane should be parked at the gate overnight.
