I'm pretty sure that NW actually has it written in the details of their tickets that they don't offer $0 fares, regardless of what shows up, so if you see one it must be wrong and won't be honored.

There are several examples of $0 fares being honored (KEF and Fiji come to mind as some of the most popular ones from the MR forum), but in this case I wouldn't expect it.
