We did some more investigation into the iPhone issue for ExpertFlyer Mobile which uses the Safari browser.

In our beta testing we have a first level of login authorization (password required) for the beta testers in place prior to the actual ExpertFlyer Mobile version subscriber login. It is this first level of login that Safari can't handle we think because of its inability to handle pages that are password protected. We see the problem also on the desktop version of Safari on an iMac, but not on the FF version on an iMac.

This problem will NOT exist once we launch ExpertFlyer Mobile as this first level of authorization will not be used, only the conventional subscriber login.
