AA is not 'supposed' to tell pax where they are on a waitlist as the waitlist is a very fluid thing. You are #1 today and #5 tomorrow and what recourse do you have. You are still now #5.

I have found too many AAgents will tell the pax what they want to hear. 'yes your bag will be on the flight' or 'you have plenty of time to connect even though we left late' or ...

That's fine, and I understand the EXP prioritization over PLAT on these waitlists. However, there are very few sold seats on this flight yet (per AA.com seating chart for my flight) except ours and maybe 15 others.

I believe that as of now, we're as the customer service rep told us we were - #1 on the waitlist. Of course we can be bumped down, but only by EXP. I'm not too concerned and fully expect to get the upgrade when an A2 or C2 code comes available (via Expertflyer.com's notification).

Regardless of this silly side-debate about the lady telling us our place on the waitlisting (do some people float these boards looking to pick fights over silly things?), I was replying to the thread starter to state that Expertflyer.com worked for me today on the availability of two C-code upgrade seats on our flight. Therefore, I'm recommending that this individual use this site for notification.
