So when I book the same flight/days as you and go on the waitlist as an EXP .. I bump you down a notch and you will never know about it.
AA is not 'supposed' to tell pax where they are on a waitlist as the waitlist is a very fluid thing. You are #1 today and #5 tomorrow and what recourse do you have. You are still now #5.
I have found too many AAgents will tell the pax what they want to hear. 'yes your bag will be on the flight' or 'you have plenty of time to connect even though we left late' or ...
