Can saline solution for contact lenses be handled as carry on?
Whenever my wife and I travel without checked bags (e.g. for a one-night stayover), we have a problem because of her contact lenses. She needs saline solution which only comes in bottles considerbly larger than 3 ounces. The solution has to be kept sterile, so it can't be transferred to a smaller bottle.
The only thing we've come up with is to go to a local drugstore immediately upon arrival and buy a bottle of saline solution, which we keep at the destination for future trips. That's worked OK, because all of our short trips so far have been to visit friends or relatives who have offered to store the bottle for us. But in general that seems like an awkward approach and potentially a waste of money.
Does anyone have a better idea? We hate to have to check our bags for a one day trip just for this one bottle.
Thanks,
Ed
