Perhaps I'm getting old, but I find these days that life's too short to spend 1 night in a complete and utter dump in order to get enough points for 0.2 free nights somewhere nicer.

We stayed at the new Four Seasons when we were in Zurich last year, even though I could have gone to the (rooms almost as bad as Geneva) IC and burned a free weekend night voucher and got some points. And I couldn't have been happier.
