Never mind, try not to let it bother you.

ReelChief, I did something very similar (except it also involved changing terminals at LHR) and chose option (a). Apart from the other convenience factors a big consideration for me was not to have my luggage being added to the statistics of lost luggage - something which seems to have an alarmingly high probability if your luggage connects at LHR.
