Premex2000 .. I am not sure we can assume the SAME aircraft goes the whole route. The #UA1 you refer to I have now booked (seat 15b!) for the April #1 rtw, and hopefully other FT'ers will be on that flight too.

Clearly they will not change the 747 in Delhi, as there are no other options to swap with (!) but UA #1 then continues to LHR, then IAD then LAX then HKG.

I imagine an AIRCRAFT change at either LHR, IAD or most especially LAX would be highly possible at times if maintainence etc necessitated it. Not that it would affect anyone's pre-assigned seating now the dreadful 747-OP are being phased out, but yes, it COULD in many cases mean you fly one flight # on the same aircraft TYPE but on different actual AIRCRAFT.
