Hi FlyLinda,

Just saw your post - I lived on the Riviera until last month, so if there are any questions on places to go, restaurants, etc. that I can answer, I'd be more than happy to help. I recently posted regarding Monte Carlo hotels, are you still looking for something there?

Re Avignon, I'm afraid my advice would be less reliable, as I lived on the coast and didn't spend a lot of time there. I've heard great things about Les Frenes though, SteinHotels has some excellent properties (Chateau Eza in Eze among them, as well as Cap Estel close by - but I see you picked La Chevre d'Or, which is fantastic). Carlton IC when using points is a good choice, I'm a little bit partial to The Martinez and depending on the room type you're in it can be preferable. Hotel du Cap Eden Roc, close by on the Cap d'Antibes is stunning and worth the visit, even if you're not staying there.

Four Seasons is a very nice resort (I haven't actually stayed myself I admit), but what I would say, and have heard many guests repeat, is that it has very little local flavour to it; it's a very North American resort and could easily be located anywhere else (just something to take into account, whether you are looking for something particularly French/Provencal).

Another suggestion, in similar style of Hotel du Cap, is the Grand Hotel Cap Ferrat, located on the tip of the peninsula. Gorgeous setting, interesting history, beautiful views.
