Are there an easy way to maintain the miles without losing them ?

Best thing to do to both boost your mileage balance is to apply for a BA branded credit card. In the US this can net you 20,000 BA miles for vitually nothing.

You only need 25k for a round trip upgrade from WT+ to www.newclubworld.com the US to Europe (or vice versa) so that should be your target. WT+ fares start around $700 exNYC incl tax, and earn 125% of mileage flown so you earn around 10k BA Miles on your upgraded flight, meaning you are well on your way to next years upgrade.

Otherwise remember you can spend BA Miles with all oneworld partner airlines.
