I had called the EXP desk about a flight we are booked on in Nov where there has been lots of J availability from the time we made our reservation. They got in contact with the 'the analyst for that flight' and were told that for a Friday or Sunday night flight they won't release C inventory until very close to the actual date.
I think visibility of C inventory is a function of AA not releasing it early on popular flights.
What you are saying here is make no sense to me and is certainly not my experience.
Within the last 3 or so months I have booked TPA/DFW/FRA on 11/15/07
MIA/ MVD iN 2/2008, MIA/MAD in 2/2008, MIA/LHR in 6/2008 all departing on Fridays/Sat, all returning on Sat/Sun
In every instance I used EF to identify the availibility of C inventory and booked and confirmed the upgrades at that time using E-vips.
