I got over the 1K mark 2 weeks ago and live outside the US and have not received that email (or any email)
I wish I had foreknowledge as I could have avoided some very unpleasant experiences.
I spoke with a Mileage Plus person today and was told that members who achieve 1K status the "traditional" way in 2000 will be rewarded additionally to those who achieve that status by other means.He would or could not say how!
