Advice re: Z-class ticketing issue with AC/UA codeshares
Last weekend, I bought a Z-class (discounted Executive First) ticket for the upcoming Christmas holiday. It's SFO-YYZ-LHR-YVR-SFO, with the SFO-YYZ and YVR-SFO tickets on UA metal and AC flight numbers. All segments booked in Z, so in the F cabin on UA (two-class) and the J cabin on AC. Received the email from aircanada.com and everything looked fine.
A short time after ticketing, I called UA to get seat assignments on their flights. They had no record of the reservation. They asked me to get the UA PNR from AC so they could look it up.
So I called AC. The agent looked at the reservation and was immediately concerned... the UA segments had come back "UC" (unconfirmed). Indeed, AC had sold me seats that UA was not confirming. The agent had me on hold a long time and then came back and told me this was a fairly significant (not unique to my reservation) issue and that they were working to resolve it. She said she'd call me in two days with follow-up, not to be concerned, and that "AC would honor these flights."
I called in the next day just to check, and a different agent read the comments, assured me it was being worked on, and told me to check back in several days if I hadn't heard anything.
So, at this point, it did feel to me as if this was being handled and not neglected.
Yesterday, right on schedule, the first agent (who said she'd call me) *did* call me. She said it's still being worked on but that with the fall schedule now being loaded, it would be delayed "as they sort out 200,000 other reservations." She told me to expect to hear again on November 1. Huh? That's too long to wait, I think.
So... here I am attempting to be patient. But, I am not confirmed on those flights and this really is the routing I want/need (I created it for UA metal to YYZ, then new 777 YYZ-LHR). Am I OK to be confident and wait this out? Recommendations?
