Flying a morning flight on UL from TRV to CMB the inbound flight burst a tire, so we had to wait until a new one could be flown over from CMB. It was a 10 hour delay for a flight of under an hour. I can think of better airports in which to spend 10 hours than TRV.
Same thing happened to me, but with AA at BDA. Flight from NYC blew three tires on landing, they only had two spares on the island. Had to wait for a flight the next day to bring in a third spare so plane could return to NYC. An extra day on the beach, on AA's dime, was not a bad thing by any stretch of the imagination.
