you could book the non-family award via AC or SQ if necessary. or if theyre on your amex, exactly, set up an NH account for them and authorize them to redeem/transfer points themselves. (also a number of people have reported having no problems transferring into other peoples accounts without even doing anything)

no idea who allows open jaw. might check the above 2 (for NH) as well as AF/KL (for JL).
