You could have drunk it, but if you did they would send you, your empty bottle and your stuff back through screening. Don't you feel safer?

If I understand correctly, if they find a prohibited item they are not supposed to confiscate it from you but rather offer you the choice to check it, return it to your car or "surrender" it.
