Crew Rest Area--Very Cool!
I had a chance to go upstairs to the rear crew rest area on a 747-400 this week. The door is in the back on the right and when opened has a very steep set of stairs that goes up to an area that only can be described as spacious. It has six regular bunks with curtains and a couple chairs and changing area. The seats that get curtained off in the main cabin are by no means the FA's only place to catch a few Z's. I thought they had to grab what sleep they could in uncomfortable chairs but this is as good a Japanese capsule hotel. No noise and very comfy. I did not realize there was so much space above the ceiling of the main cabin behind the "bump" on the 747, but there is ample space. Future layouts for us lowly customers involving this space you think? My other thought was that if I do join the mile high club, I want to do it there. No small smelly toilets when full beds are available. One could easily dress that area up and sell tix there for a tidy sum. Very Cool!!
Anybody else seen this and care to add comments?
