I'm fully aware that the flyer may not be the earner. Doesn't change my view on the matter, however. If the earner wants to let someone else use their ticket, so be it. Shouldn't change how boarding passes are handed out, though.

Yeah, an award ticket that now comes with seat-restrictions and (sometimes) severely reduced useability.

How rewarding.
Giving the flyee (whether they are the awardee or not) an "A" pass would cost SW very little, but would likely engender some good will and thoughts of "hey, that's nice.." on the part of the flyer.
