More generally, for each of the 3 qualification levels, UA reduced the mileage qualification by 16% and reduced the segment qualification by 10%. Thus Premier 2001 requires 21,000 miles or 27 segments (instead of 30); PremEx 2001 requires 42,000 miles or 54 segments (instead of 60), and 1K requires 84,000 miles or 90 segments.
Anybody have any luck getting United to grant you a level based on doing 84% of the segments instead of 90% of the segments? I will have 52 segments as of December 1 (with no plans for any more flying in December). Do you think a call to United with the argument that 52 segments = 86.6%
of the 60 segments needed for 1P would work? I'd really like to make this year's 1P Lite and while I know I could do a quick OAK-LAX mileage (segment) run, I'd like to see if United will listen to an argument that my number of segments equals a greater percentage of segments than the percentage of miles required (did I say that right?

) for 1P Lite. Or do you think they'd only agree if that counted in my once-per-lifetime comp? Any thoughts? Thanks.
