Unlike others, I don't have a personal wheelchair that is calibrated to my specifications. One wheelchair is like any other for my own personal needs so I won't be insisting that I be allowed to use my own to get to the aircraft.

I'm expecting to be asked to check in the wheelchair and provided with an alternative which I will use at the airport. What I have no idea about is how long this process will take....
The reasons that many pax use their wheelchair to the door of the plane and then do a gatecheck are (1) the chair gets less damage from less handling and (2) the chair has a much better chance of actually boarding your flight.

This wisdom cames from MANY international trips with a family member that uses awheelchair. PM me if you'd like to talk about it on the phone some time....
