The engines are overhauled frequently. In principle they can be replaced with more modern engines though you have to worry about different mounting points, electrical hookups, etc. There have been fantastic advances in engine efficiency, though the decrease in operating costs must be balanced against huge capital costs when considering replacements.

The airframe can last quite a long time - like decades. The interiors need rehabs from time to time...
