With regards to the OP, I agree...the red-eye hours are understaffed and too often most of those baggage check stations sit dark.
CO and DL also stay through the winter; in fact, CO is rapidly becoming the #2 player in the ANC market. They'll be offering 3X daily ANC-SEA during the holiday season, and 2X daily ANC-SEA over the rest of the winter. In addition, ANC-IAH comes back over the holidays and peak periods.

On a side note, I was just out at ANC picking some folks up and noticed that jetways are being installed at C7, C8, and C9.
