You are 'entitled' to a skykit if there is an entertainment malfunction, seat malfunction, no meal ( on a flight where meals are served ie intl) or if you ordered a special meal and it was not boarded.
I've been running at historical lows getting special meals boarded. On my last flight, not only did the meal not get boarded (it was a C award flight, booked a few months in advance and confirmed at 48hrs), but I didn't even get my first choice. That said, with my seatmate (no one I knew) yelling at the FA and purser about being a 1K/MM and never not getting her first choice, I figured that was the wrong time to say anything
BTW, she got a salmon F meal, ate two bites and left it.
