You are 'entitled' to a skykit if there is an entertainment malfunction, seat malfunction, no meal ( on a flight where meals are served ie intl) or if you ordered a special meal and it was not boarded. We absolutely are not penalized,the skykits seem to placate passengers so I have trouble understanding why some crew are so remiss in handing them out.

If there is a widespread malfunction , no video at all in a cabin, you do not write your file number on each form, or the problem- they are put in an envelope for largescale problems with the details on the envelope. If you see the skykits being handed out en masse , you will not find details on them.
