Hey Persian Power - I am in Abu Dhabi and use slingbox pro to watch my tv back in the States. I have no problems connecting from the Middle East and have the ability to set my DVR. That way I can record the prime time shows and watch them at my leisure.
While technically not 'free' the intial investment was well worth it to me. Once you buy the system (US$200) there are no additional costs.
