Crews usually shut down the number 3 engine on taxi in as a routine, its common practice. The number 3 has least impact on hydraulics etc....so gets turned off to save fuel.

Didn't realise there was such a significant saving to be had. Interesting to note that the no 3 engine has the least impact on the hydaulic systems... seems bizarre one engine has less affect than the others, is there a particular reason why?
Does this mean that on 2-Engineed aircraft there is an engine that would be favoured to shut down first for similar reasons?
Does this also dictate the order in which engines are started?
