In a place like Alaska, that isn't much money. There are some nice benefits including insurance and travel, but if you can't eat...those don't help much.

If it helps, it's not only at AS, it's at all airlines. The redistribution of wealth from airline employees to airline passengers is certainly taking its toll. Why would anyone want to go to work for an airline these days?
