Anyway, as others have said, it need not be the same flight. Book a refundable ticket SAN-Somewhere on UA for an hour or two after your actual SAN-MIA flight. Your new girlfriend gets into the secured area with her new refundable ticket and uses her actual photo ID. Then you board with the award ticket boarding pass that you printed at home online.

And yes, a refundable ticket is exactly that: REFUNDABLE. Even if you don't cancel before the flight departs.

Does anyone know if all of the United flights from San Diego and from Miami depart from the same gates/concourses? It would be a bummer not to be able to get past security.

I wonder if the refundable ticket would be a better bet or the no id approach?
