I think the key point the OP should complain about is the "never mind". I know you are supposed to remain quiet and not argue with an FA, but I would have a hard time remaining quiet on this one!

The only way I could see this situation playing out without fault is if the passenger who was upgraded was higher on the list and the FA didn't realize this until already talking to jrlawt.
