First post. Anyway to put another person in an award miles seat?

I booked a cruise and roundtrip tickets from San Diego to Miami in Feb. Now, the girlfriend is history.

I'd like to take someone else, but the UAL flight I'm on (perfect times for me) is sold out. While I have 2 frequent flyer seats reserved, one is in the name of my ex and the seats are supposedly non-transferrable.

I can cancel her ticket and get my miles credited back for $100, but then I lose that seat, as it won't be available rebooking with the award miles.

I'd love to put another lady into that seat, but I'm not sure that's possible. I'm not looking to break any laws, but I don't mind a white lie if it's legal.

I'm thinking I'm sol, but I thought I'd throw it out there in case anyone has any ideas.
