What I just PMed you, and I figured I might as well post for the benefit of the board, is friends don't let friends fly LH Y in a 747 for 12 hours.

They can get out of line, forget it, and go to wherever they're staying tonight. Have them then call the 1K desk, and fly tomorrow morning through FRA or MUC and SFO/IAD/ORD (all available), just on UA metal so they can get E+. It is a huge difference, and worth connecting in any of the above.
