My son bought through ANA a cheap coach fare, LAS-LAX-NRT-LAX-LAS on ANA metal transpacific and UA metal LAS-LAX-LAS. He showed up for his return flight at NRT 3 days late--his calendaring mistake. ANA put him on their 3 day later NRT-LAX flight; called UA and got him on their 3 day later LAS-LAX flight. There was no change fee and the ANA ticket agent apologized 3 times because it was taking her so long to confirm these changes. WOW!!
