I am pretty new to international travel and was wondering about the Op-Up's discussed in this form. I recently joined the Marco Polo Club because of a trip I am on. LAX-HKG-CEB-HKG-SIN-HKG-LAX. I am confused on how the op up works.... Does CX upgrade people, day of departure, based on the list that was stated by the first post? If so, logically speaking, J & F would be full going out with upgrades freeing up more space in Y?

The reason I ask is that my flight from LAX-HKG did not have a full J class and HKG-CEB had maybe 8 people in it, A330. I was not a member of the Club at the time but now wondering what are my chances if the same situation arises on the way? Currently in CEB and still need to complete the CEB-HKG-SIN-HKG-LAX part of my trip.
