While I bear no brief for the OP, and agree that he/she has overdramatized the situation, there is theoretical compensation due here.
An airline will put out a contract on your grandmother to collect its nickel-and-dime fees for every little contingency. It's only fair that the airline be held to the same inflexible standard, when it promises something and does not deliver.
Weather delays are out of the airline's control; seat pitch is not.
Well then we'll disagree on the severity of the OP's situation. I still believe it was not that big a deal and requesting compensation is inappropriate.
