Cabin crew in part-time rota error

Don't know exactly when this occurred but it must have caused BA a headache.

One of my work colleagues has a son who is a BA pilot who has recently started to fly 747s. He previously flew (for the last four years) on the 767 fleet, including MAN-JFK.

Anyhow, he told his mum a story that he flew a 747 back from Washington to London empty (him and his first officer, no other crew) because BA had in error rostered the cabin crew on part-time hours and were unable to get a replacement crew so the plane flew back empty. I'm going to assume it was a plane that was intended to be flown as BA216 IAD-LHR.

Has anyone else heard of this happening?
