Baggage allowance Heathrow to Newark

I'm not a regular long haul flyer but am a BA Executive member.

I'm hoping some one could clear up my query, could possibly save a marriage!

I'm off to Newark soon and a bit confused with my baggage allowance. Please could someone confirm the total luggage weight allowance, I'm reading it as two suitcases not to exceed 23kg each case. So does that mean I have an allowance of 46kg in total? My husband reads it as a total of 2 cases with a total weight of 23kg.

HELP PLEASE
