There were a couple of old time FTers who bought similar itineraries off the now defunct DESTINA site, and at about half the fare you're quoting...albeit a fare upgradeable with regular SWUs and not the Specials. In any case, they bought several of these tickets with itineraries that provide routings to SYD and HKG via YVR and LHR with similar "same day" turnarounds. They could certainly tell you how they managed to upgrade on a single SWU for an itinerary like SYD-YVR-LHR-YVR-SYD...but I am pretty sure they'll remain mum on the subject.
