Dear GlennTheBaker
Thank you for the note. I do apologize for all inconveniencies that you have to go through with your reservations, we were taken by surprise with the Renaissance leaving our group and we have to relocate hundreds of reservations as a result. I would like to point that the Marriott Executive Apartments is a very nice hotel in the city center, just five minutes walk from the Wenceslav Square. We can also offer the Courtyard by Marriott Flora or Courtyard by Marriott Airport for October. Unfortunately, the Prague Marriott Hotel is not available in this period. However, I have good news and can re-book the December reservation at the Prague Marriott Hotel if you wish.
I look forward to welcoming you in October to the Marriott Executive Apartments & offer my apologies in person. I would like to also offer you an upgrade to a One Bedroom Suite as well. I thank you very much in advance for your understanding of the situation.
We look forward to be of a service & thank you for giving us the chance to regain your trust.
I've replied again, saying that an Extended Stay apartment on the edge of town is no comparison to a 5* city centre full service hotel. The October reservation is for my mum (a sprightly 63 year old) so she can re-visit the scene of my marriage in May. The Exec Apartments are simply unsuitable for her 2-night stay. Earlier today, standard rooms were available - only Exec Level rooms and Junior Suites are showing now.
Just a question for someone with a bit of insider knowledge - is it possible for a hotel to leave the group without warning? Surely some notice period is needed?
Glenn,
The Marriott Executive Apartments are anything BUT on the outskirts of town. It is at V Tunich 9, 120 00 Praha 2. The manager, Martin, has since moved to the Marriott, but I here his standards are still maintained. They are actually my preferred Marriott in Praha. They are elegant Residence Inns at full service Marriott standards. I forego points and status nights just to stay there. I recently stayed in a one bedroom suite there and would do so again in a heartbeat. The location for me is superior to the other three Centrum properties in Praha. You are much closer to the Mala Strana and just as close to Old town. I cannot imagine why anyone would prefer the location of the Marriott and the now exiled Renaissance. If my friends elegant apartment were not made available to us this New Year's Eve, I would make this property our home during our stay. Do your homework. I must protest the implication that this property is inferior.
On another note. Make sure to dine at the Restaurant Maltezsky at Prokopska 10/297 Mala Strana, Praha 1. Look at
www.umaltezskychrytiru.cz. You will thank me 1000 times over.
For the record, the Marriott Executive Apartments in Budapest are FAR superior to the Marriott 2 blocks away. We were miserable at the Marriott ( old, dirty, Soviet Era ) while our more intelligent friend was languishing in a suite at the 'new" Executive Apartments. We were green with envy. The ONLY positive to the Marriott is the lounge, which has one of the most beautiful views in the world. But my back hated me for subjecting it to what they called a "mattress."
