One time earlier this year when I flew 917 from IAD-SEA (763) they used the same 763 that came in from SEA as flight 916. I know they don't do this every time..but that day they did.

I've flown 917 several times this year and as I recall that was the only time that I got to see where the inbound was coming from so I don't know what the usual routine is.
