When I piece together a reservation like that I usually call Reservations after and get them put a notice in the reservation or combine them into one reservation. But I don't think that is really necessary. The check-in person should be able to handle it and if they can't there should be a supervisor or manager that can. I don't know that I have ever had to change rooms at a Marriott (at least not for reasons like this.)
