This past weekend I stayed at the Airport Hilton in STL. When I arrived, I asked about the HHonors lounge and was told that it is closed Friday through Sunday. Apparently accustomed to complaints about this from HHonors members, the desk clerk immediately offered drink and appetizer vouchers.

The room was not an upgrade, in fact, due to a torrential downpour in STL just prior to our arrival, the first two rooms to which we were assigned had wet carpet. I cannot complain about mgt on this matter, the third room was dry.

Had I known that the lounge was closed and especially had I known that a Diamond would not get an upgrade on a weekend, I would have gone elsewhere. It is understandable that upgrades might not be available during the business week, but lack of an upgrade at an airport property during a weekend stay comes up a bit short in my book.
