I can only help with Naples. I stayed at the Hilton Sorrento palace last year. In high season you are unlkely to get an upgrade. I went in August 2006 and managed to get a club floor room, and access to the executive lounge. IMHO the lounge is worth paying for. It has complimentary drinks and food all day. Most days I did not have to eat out, as the food on offer was so good.The hotel has stunning views over the bay of Naples from the lounge and is very wll maintained. I would definately stay there again.
