I think it's the same problem as when you first thought you saw it: SLC, while you want SCL

I've found great fares to expensive places in the past by transposing letters At least I didn't buy it like the English couple who ended up in Sydney, Nova Scotia instead of Australia Story here

As for real advice, if you have time, it's actually a pretty short flight from EZE to SCL with a fantastic view of Andes just after taking off from SCL. When I flew it it was well under $200 a/i o/w, and not much more for r/t. If it's more now (probably is with high fuel costs), there are buses that take longer, but with a longer view of snowcapped Andes.
