Would you then be inclined to do so in order to reduce the risk of luggage going astray given the bad record of LHR especially when it comes to the luggage transfers between T1 and T4 ?

Before anybody can give you any accurate suggestions, we need your Class of Travel and if you have any Status. This things are Very Very Important as these determine what Fast-track facilities you can use and how quick your bags should be off-loaded.
