No real risk of a downgrade. Once you are Y-upped, you are in first. Obviously if you try to standby for a different flight, you may be subject to riding in the back if first class is already full on the new flight, but otherwise, your first class seat assignment should be fine. Are you worried about a very tight connection that could screw up the trip?
