No one has brought up the issue of government regulation of fares into some of these markets. I do not know if it applies, or to which countries, but fares may be subject to "government approval" and when the local country has an airline in financial difficulty.......

I would expect some overall lowering of fares. Chile wants to be a full NAFTA member, and Argentina needs to do something to improve its economy drastically, and soon. I don't know just what direct link this will have to fare reduction, but my sense is that it will have some effect.
