Happened to me too. It was a bump voucher, that fell out of an open top folder (we called them slash folders) and onto the ground out in the parking lot. I walked out to the parking lot and back twice trying unsuccessfully to find it. I was really really lucky that day when I found out that some nice person turned it in to lost and found (or rather to the respective airline's counter).

Otherwise I'd been out of luck.

Not a good idea, any more, to put something like a checkbook or an envelope in your back pocket and hanging out halfway. Fool me twice, shame on me.

For the OP, who did not lose his voucher, the airline should eventually (with reasonable dispatch) make good on it.
