Collective bargaining and class actions are for the people who AREN'T in such an elite position as your lofty self.
I understood the point only too well. I think you have deliberately completely misunderstood my point, which was that in this age with a great deal of free movement of labour, collective bargaining doesn't do a lot of good for most people. I am not part of senior management or in any sense particularly special in this respect and I didn't suggest I was. I am simply saying that when it comes to obtaining a a good contract of employment most people are free to seek a better job with better pay, or even change career if necessary, and that they will do far better by doing this than any union will do for them. The whole point was that my case is normal in this respect, not exceptional.

On the other hand, someone who had his luggage lost with BA is in a very weak negotiating position. He cannot decide to claim compensation when from another airline when BA are uncooperative in the way one might seek another employer! Totally different situation.
