Don't worry for this one, this time. We all did that mistake once. When you learn UA tricks for upgrades on Int'l routes you'll be able to use the system in your favor. For exemple M and H transatlantic tickets are sometimes available at around $500 in the fall and spring. Add 20,000 miles OW and you have a ticket worth $6,000 in business class. B-fares go for $700-800 at the same period and you only use 20,000 miles rt. Using miles for UG is the best thing you can do to use your >100k account.
